Let Us Introduce Ourselves
In the spring of 1987, 27-year-old Marisa, widowed with two children and from Thailand, was taking college prep classes at Maple Woods Community College. She wasn’t seeking a relationship but greeted Dom, a fellow student. Dom, 21 and new to America, learned they both lived in the Northland and asked to visit her children. By 1989, their friendship had grown into love.
Over 20 years ago, Dom and Marisa arrived in Kansas City, Missouri, without knowing each other—Dom came to study, and Marisa arrived with her family. They met in college, and as their friendship grew into love, they discovered an opportunity to share their culture with the city. In 2000, they took a bold step and opened Tasty Thai, bringing the vibrant, authentic flavors of traditional Thai cuisine to the Midwest.
In 2010, Tasty Thai expanded to Liberty, MO and 2014, Dom and Marisa opened up Big Bowl Pho next to their original location.
Behind the scenes, three generations work hard to ensure that tradition, quality and service are the keystones that make Tasty Thai a critically acclaimed dining experience.
